Volunteer Firefighter

McLane - Black Lake Fire Department accepts applications for Volunteer Firefighter prior to the start of Academy. Typically the Fire District sends the candidate to the Thurston County Fire & Rescue Training Consortium Recruit Academy in the spring and fall, and will contact applicants prior to confirm their interest. In addition to an application, candidates must pass a CPAT  physical ability test; those who are successful will be given a physical exam and drug screen prior to becoming a Volunteer Recruit.

Applicants with current firefighting experience may be considered as lateral Volunteers, at the discretion of the Volunteer Coordinator, and may not need to participate in the Recruit Academy. The CPAT physical ability test, physical exam and drug screen will still be required of lateral Volunteers.

Please see the Firefighter job description under the Policy screen for duties and requirement details.

For more information, see Volunteer Program Link, or contact the District's Coordinator Todd Miner at (360) 866-1000.

Career Firefighter

Typically, the District will hire Career Firefighters from the current roster of the Firefighter testing results of the Thurston County Firefighters test.
